What it does

The Shopify AI Toolkit connects AI coding tools to Shopify's developer docs, API schemas and Shopify CLI store management¹. It validates GraphQL queries, Liquid templates and extensions against Shopify's schemas¹. It comes as a plugin, as agent skills, or as the local Dev MCP server¹. Through Shopify CLI it can prepare and run store-management tasks, with the user choosing when to run them¹.

How it connects to your store

Runs in the developer's AI tool (Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity CLI, Cursor, VS Code and others)¹. The Dev MCP server runs locally and needs no authentication; it reaches Shopify's developer resources, not store data¹. Store data is reached through Shopify CLI: store auth stores an access token, and store execute runs Admin API GraphQL queries or mutations on a store^2,3.
